Alpine Township

On Tuesday, November 4, 2008,  Elect ALEX ARENDS your Alpine Township Supervisor

Frequently Asked Questions

Q:  Why are you running as a Republican?
A:  Unlike in city elections, Michigan state law requires township officers to declare party affiliation.

Q:  Why are you running for Supervisor?

A:  I enjoy and have a history of community service.  I will respond to your concerns in a timely manner.   I promise to meet deadlines.  I will improve communications with the township board and all staff, and respect the value of diverse opinions. I will represent all the citizens of the township, and hold myself accountable to the board of trustees of all my activities performed in the line of duty.  Most of all, I will promote a culture of trust, team work, and cooperation.

Q: How do you feel about the preservation of farm land?
A: I support and encourage the preservation of our agricultural community.  Still there are farmers who can no longer make a go at it, or whose children or grandchildren have no interest in farming, and whose property can't be sold as a farm at a reasonable price.  We need to be realistic about this and find the best use for this land. keeping in mind what is best for both the township and the property owner, and without jeopardizing those who want to continue to farm.  We also need to look at what our neighboring communities are doing at our shared borders, and plan for Alpine Township's best interest. We must also remember that the residential, commercial and industrial zoned areas also play a role in the success of our township.
